Lower Falls Trail in Big Canoe

Mike and Timm in front of Lower Falls

The 1.7-mile Lower Falls Trail is the longest natural trail in Big Canoe.  Of course the highlight of the hike is the 30-foot cascade on Disharoon Creek known as the Lower Falls.

Lower Falls

There’s an excellent straight-on view of Lower Falls from a large boulder that sits at the base of the waterfall.

Ice on Lower Falls

It was cold enough to form ice sculptures on the surrounding rocks and vegetation.

See and hear the rush of the falls.

The trail crosses Disharoon Creek many times.

Nothing like a rare fresh snowfall to transform an already beautiful scene into something really special.
